Pontiac51's Slot Race 11-10-99

This was the 3rd race on the 4-lane track and the 5th race out of 7 races in this season. So the Pro's wanted to get most out of the race as possible to get up in front in the points. And the fact that the leader in the points "Mondial7" would not compete the last 3 races (he's on study in japan) gave all racers a good reason to perform well. "Viking", last race winner, "Pontiac51", bit bad luck the last races, "McRay", quiet contender, "Christina", first woman on the track, "Beeli", the nascar ruler, not forgetting "Nadja" the hot spot last time, all of them were in need for points. And of course, we had some rookies on the track: "Astrid", "Karin", "Nathalie", "David", "Martin" and "Lukas", son of our sponsor. The qualify looked straight forward as last race, "Pontiac51" in front, "Viking" second, but then came "Karin" (her qualify run was the last driven) and gathered the pole by knife sharp 0.0078 secs. The rest of the field looked like this:

So "Astrid", "Martin", "Nadja" and "Nathalie" competed in Class C. Race was run as this: slowest driver chooses lane, fastest driver chooses car, then after 1 race in the same configuration the controllers are swapped, so everyone races each car on each lane. This means 4 races (3 laps long) per round. Points for each race: 10 for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 0 for DNF.

If points equaled a tiebreaker was driven to settle final positions, no points were given. Class C was a equal race, everybody finished at nearly every position.

"Christina", "Lukas", "McRay" and "Beeli" competed in Class B.

Lot of DNF's in this class, which was clearly dominated by "Beeli". Christina kept her head and 16 points were enough for a place in the B-Final.

Next was Class A with "David", "Viking", "Pontiac51" and "Karin".

"Viking" again unbeatable, "Pontiac51" up second for the challenge in the A-Final. "Karin" (less race practice?) and "David" down to the B-Final.

After the pitstop for cleaning the cars and cooling track and minds the C-Final was on. Here "Nadja" (C, 16pts), "Nathalie" (C, 16pts), "Lukas" (B, 0pts) and "McRay" (B, 6pts) settled the positions 9 to 12.

"McRay" showed what would have been possible for him today without loosing it the frist round. "Nathalie" scored her first win on the instructions given by her boyfriend "Viking".

On to the B-Final, in there "Astrid" (C, 20pts), "Christina" (B, 16pts), "Karin" (A, 10pts) and "David" (A, 0pts), settling pos. from 5 to 8.

What a final this was, all cars in a bunch the whole race the obligate quitting mostly in the last lap, real tight driven. Passings all over the track from 3rd to 1st and so on...

This was it the very best drivers in the series in one race. "Martin" (C, 30pts), "Beeli" (B, 30pts), "Pontiac51" (A, 22pts) and "Viking" (A, 30pts) drove for the grand prix trophy.

"Beeli" tried to practice the nascar rule, but no way for him. "Viking" in front all the time, followed by "Pontiac51", who drove for finish, believing 2 times it was "Beeli" he had followed.

So the "Grand Prix Champion Trophy" was agian for "Viking", the "Pole Position Trophy" and the "Eagle Woman Fast Track Award" for "Karin", the "Runner Up Award" for "Martin" and the "Steadiness Award" for "Lukas".

Congrats to all drivers, thank you, ladies and gentleman, for a great race and cu in november...
