Pontiac51's Slot Race 23-08-99

This was the 2nd race on the 4-lane track and the 4th race for the cup. The rookie of the race was "Alex". All other drivers tested the track in the sunday  free practice session. The field contained known names like "Mondial7", leader in the points, "McRay" and of course "Pontiac51". The others were new to racing but in no means uncompetitive. So "Christina" had the track record on sunday as she started, but then it was broken by "Viking". The field was rounded out by "Beeli" and "Rudolf". Tough "Viking" had the track record, "Pontiac51" stole away the pole by 0,0546 secs. The rest of the field looked like this:

So "McRay", "Wolfgang", "Rudolf" and "Christina" competed in Round 1. Race was run as this: slowest driver chooses lane, fastest driver chooses car, then after 2 races in the same configuration the controllers are swapped, so everyone races each car on each lane for 2 times. This means 8 races (3 laps long) per round. Points for each race: 10 for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 0 for DNF.

"Alex", "Mondial7", "Beeli" and "Pontiac51" competed in Round 2. Round 2 was tougher and tighter as the first one. "Pontiac51" lost his head often in the duell with "Mondial7", but if he kept it, he won.

The A-Final was won by "Viking", who was the favourit after his track record in sunday free practice. "Mondial7" had some kind of "black-out". "McRay" tried to keep up with "Viking" but lost this duell. Man of the race was "Beeli", he was the one and only to finish 4th and collected the 3 important points for finishing 2nd. He really practiced the NASCAR rule "...to keep out of trouble and finish."

"Viking" won the "Grand Prix Champion Trophy". The "Runner-Up" of the race was "Beeli", the "Pole Position Trophy" was for "Pontiac51" and the "Steadiness Award" was for "Christina". The "Fastest Lady Award" was not prized since there was only one lady on the track. Then a winner's photo was taken, followed by the classical shower of champagne. Congrats to all drivers and cu next race...
