Pontiac51's Slot Race

20-05-01

Welcome to Indianapolis. The first race held under daylight, the summer is coming! The track opened on saturday, 6pm instead of the normal 2pm, so the track was rather crowded in the practice sessions. "Kleiner" had the track record again, but only his early drive saved him the pole (editor's note: if one or more drivers are equal in qualify they are ordered after the rule "first driven - nearer to the front on the grid"). He was quite wondering about the 2 top drivers driving on the green line, while he was on the blue one. What also has to be mentioned is "Suom"s 5th place with 0.1 secs behind the pole and a new face at the Pontiac51 Raceway named "Gelse". The rather tight field (0.6 secs from first to last) looked like this:

"Pontiac51" had not the best start in this class, but he regained strength and triumphed over "Nathalie" in the second half of the class. "Sam" had it rather easy there with one DNF. "Grilli" overshot a bit, B-Final for him.

So "Viking", "Suom", "Kleiner" and "Gelse" were in Class A.

"Viking" regained his form after the last race, 5 wins and 3 2nd places speak a clear language. "Suom" in upcoming shape challenged "Kleiner" to the spectators surprise. "Gelse" was overhelmed by the speed of the others and so he lost track quite often.

"Suom", "Grilli", "Gelse" and "Nathalie" would settle pos. 5-8.

This heat was a strong fight between "Nathalie", "Suom" and "Grilli". "Grilli" kept his car on the track, while "Suom" flew off 3 times, giving "Grilli" 5th. "Nathalie" suffered from not being on the podium all time and was short only 6 points, 7th place for her.

"Viking", "Sam", "Kleiner" and "Pontiac51" would settle pos. 1-4 in this A-final.

Well, adrenaline was pumping in this final, you could feel it. It took 5 (!) restarts in the first run before the points were scored. 1 3rd place, 5 2nd places and only 2 wins were enough for "Viking" to get out in front there. "Kleiner" and "Pontiac51" challenged him, "Pontiac51" even had more wins, but he did 4 DNF's while "Kleiner" did 3. "Pontiac51" was in there for 2nd, but he lost it the last run after a stupid move trying to take the win, while he had only to finsh third to keep the overall 2nd place.

It has to be mentioned that the group of racers at the Pontiac51 Raceway is getting better, but this race was extraordinary. Never the racing was so tight as this time (ex: Once i put my foot down on the back straight, which is 2-3m long and i rushed from 3rd to 1st in about half a second). I like the level of attitude the drivers put in there and its sure more fun to watch. Keep on going!

Congrats to all drivers, thank you, ladies and gentleman, for an exiting race. The Pontiac51 Raceway will be back in june. Till then, go fast, turn left...
